Our Story.
“Tarian,” the Welsh word for shield, reflects both our purpose and Jon’s heritage.
But the origin goes back much further, to a young kid with his first x286 DOS machine, no manual, no instructions, just curiosity and persistence. That practical, self-driven approach became the foundation of Jon's career.
Rather than learning security from textbooks, Jon built his expertise through real incidents, real pressure, and real problem-solving across two decades in IT and cyber security. By 2022, after years working alongside executives, technical teams, and frontline responders, Jon saw a gap.
Organisations needed more than monitoring, they needed experienced operators who could work inside their environments – not just report on them. So he founded Tarian Cyber.
What started as a small, specialised consultancy quickly grew. Organisations asked for more, deeper capability, broader support, and a dependable partner who understood the realities of defending complex environments. Tarian evolved to meet that demand, becoming a full-service, Microsoft-aligned security provider supporting organisations across Australia.
Today, we operate as a remote-first team built on trust, transparency, and accountability, bringing together senior talent from across the country.
